Minuscule 74

Minuscule 74 ( in the Gregory- Aland numbering ), ε 260 ( von Soden ), is a Greek Minuskelhandschrift of the New Testament on 204 parchment leaves ( 20.1 × 14.8 cm). The manuscript is dated by its colophon to 1291 or 1292. The manuscript is not complete.

Description

The manuscript contains the text of the four Gospels with gaps (Matthew 1:1-14; 5.29 to 6.1 ). He has written one column each with 26-17 rows. The manuscript contains the Epistula ad Carpianum that Eusebischen tables, lists of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, Ammonianische sections (Matthew 359, Mark 241, Luke 341, John 232), the Eusebischen canon, lectionary markings, incipits, Menologion, Synaxarion and images.

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Byzantine text-type. Kurt Aland placed it in Category V.

History

The manuscript was written in 1291 or 1292 by Theodor Hagiopetrita.

The manuscript came in 1727 from Pantokratoros monastery in England and belonged to the Archbishop of Canterbury, William Wake ( 1657-1737 ), together with the Minuskelhandschriften 73 and 506-520. Wake she gave to the Christ Church College in Oxford. The Code has been studied by John Walker and partially collated. Caspar René Gregory collated him in 1883.

The Code is currently in the Christ Church College under the signature Wake 20 in Oxford.
