Mohammad Ali Fardin

Mohammad Ali Fardin ( born April 7, 1930 in Tehran, † April 6, 2000 ibid; persian محمدعلی فردین ) was an Iranian freestyle wrestler and actor.

Career

Mohammand Ali Fardin began as a teenager in Tehran with the rings. He developed into a strong freestyle wrestler. In 1954, he came for the first time at the World Championships in Tokyo welterweight used. He won there after good performances with four wins the silver medal. In the final, he lost it against Vakhtang Balavadze from the USSR.

In qualifying for the 1956 Olympics, he was defeated by Nabi Sorouri and therefore could not go in Melbourne at the start. But in 1957 he made the leap back into the Iranian wrestlers national team, which was launched at the World Championship in Istanbul. In the welterweight Fardin won a fight, once rang draw and losing to İsmail Ogan from Turkey and again against Vakhtang Balavadze and ended up in 4th place.
