Monique Riekewald

Monique Rieke forest ( born August 3, 1978 in Suhl ) is a former German Skeleton pilot.

Monique Rieke forest of Zella- Mehlis from BSR Rennsteig Oberhof is active Skeleton pilot since 1997. The sports soldier studied business administration at the University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden. Since the 1998/99 season Rieke forest starts at senior level. Already in her first season, she was second in the German Championships (DM) and 13th in the overall World Cup. In the next season, she was again second in the DM and 11th in the overall World Cup and eighth at the World Championships in Innsbruck. In the 2000 /01 season she was in Koenigssee first time German champion, seventh in the World Cup and at the World Championships in Calgary.

In 2003 she became the first European Champion at the inaugural continental championships in St. Moritz and eighth in the world championships. The following season they finished third at the German Championships and fourth at the Second European Championship. The 2004/05 season was a success. Addition to a renewed third place in the DM and a renewed fourth place at the European Championships was Rieke forest Ninth in the World Cup and fifth at the world championships. In the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships 2007 in St. Moritz Rieke forest, together with Frank glue, Karl Angerer, Marc Kühne, Kiriasis and Berit Wiacker world champion inaugural team competition.

The only 1.60 meter tall athlete came across several other sports and inspired by a one-year stay abroad for sport of skeleton. After her return, she was the first female pilot Skeleton at the elite sports school in Oberhof, where she pioneered this sport. Rieke forest pursued her sporting professional. Due to the failure to achieve targets that were set by the Association, it was ahead of the 2008 /09 season sorted out of the national squad and then ended her career.
