Montflovin

Montflovin is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Montflovin is located on 855 m, about 12 km northeast of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village street lines extending in the Jura, on a spur on the sun-exposed slope slightly above the Doubs, in the Val du Saugeais, north of the Jura heights of Montagne du Larmont, near the border with Switzerland.

The area of ​​3.35 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The southern boundary runs along a short section along the Doubs, which flows here in a relatively wide Talniederung to the northeast through the Val du Saugeais. From the river, the municipality's area extends northward 1060 m reached the highest elevation of Montflovin over the gently rising slope, showing a loose structure of meadow and pasture land and forest, down to the Bois de Montflovin and on the ridge of Recours, on the will.

Neighboring communities of La Chaux Montflovin are in the north, La Longeville and Montbenoît in the east, Hauterive- la- face to the south and Maisons- du- Bois- Lièvremont in the West.

Population

With 101 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Montflovin is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1906 136 persons were still counted ), a continuous population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Montflovin was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( dairy farming and livestock ) embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector there are no jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from Montbenoît on the main road D437 which leads from Pontarlier to Morteau.
