Aubonne (Doubs)

Aubonne is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Aubonne is on 662 m above sea level. M., about 15 km north of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a valley in the far northeast of the high plateau of Val d' Usiers, between the Valley of the Loue in the west and Mont Pelé in the east.

The area of ​​15:17 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The western part of the area occupied by the basin of Aubonne. This valley, which is flanked on the north side of the height of Clairmont, forms the northeastern conclusion of the plateau of Val d' Usiers. It opens west to the deep erosion valley of the Loue, the communal land only goes up to the top of the escarpment. The only above-ground river is the river Buhin, but the seeps below the village. Otherwise, the entire area has no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

To the north of the municipality of soil ranges on the plateau of Les Prés -de- Vaire (780 m above sea level. M. ), which is partly covered by meadows, part of the forest. With a narrow strip, the municipality's area extends eastward across a wooded hillside on the broad ridge that stretches from Mont Pelé to Cret Monniot and on which an expanse of high pastures. In geological- tectonic terms, this ridge forms an anticlinal folds of the Jura. With 1091 m above sea level. M. is achieved the highest elevation of Aubonne here.

To Aubonne addition to the actual site also includes several hamlets and isolated farms, including:

  • Narmaud (730 m above sea level. M. ) east on a terrace of the valley of Aubonne
  • Les Prés -de- Vaire ( 769 m above sea level. M. ) on the plateau east of the Côte de Rappant

History

The territory of Aubonne was already inhabited in prehistoric times, which is a burial ground on the corridor Sur le Bey testifies. In the 17th century Aubonne was the center of its own little rule. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Aubonne was built in 1767-1769 in baroque style forms at the site of an earlier church. The Château, a stately home in the 18th century, was changed. In the old town several farmhouses in the characteristic style of the Haut-Doubs from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved.

Population

With 223 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Aubonne one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 493 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Aubonne was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It is located near the main road N57, which runs from Besancon to Pontarlier. Further road links exist with Saint -Gorgon -Main and Upper Pierre -le- Châtelet.
