Montpeyroux, Hérault

Montpeyroux ( Occitan Mont Peirós meaning " Stony Mountain" ) is a commune with 1251 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Hérault in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. Its inhabitants are called " Montpeyroussiens " ". Montpeyroux located 38 kilometers north- west of Montpellier.

Geography

The village lies on the boundary of two landscapes: the foothills of the Causse limestone area and the alluvium of the Hérault. Above the village rises the ruin of " Le Castellas " (250 m ) and the mountain peaks Baudille (847 m).
