Monzelfeld

Monzelfeld is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Bernkastel- Kues.

Geography

Monzelfeld lies on the southern slopes of the Hunsrück, about two kilometers from the Moselle Valley at Bernkastel- Kues. The hamlet is located in the Annenberg Hinterbachtal.

The municipality also includes the villages and habitations Annenberg, Birkenhof, Lambertymühle, Monzelfelderhinterbach, Olksmühle, Schellhof and Thiel mill.

Adjacent neighboring municipalities are (clockwise): town of Bernkastel -Kues, local community of Long Kamp, union free Morbach ( district Gonzerath ), local communities Gornhausen, Veldenz, Mulheim an der Mosel.

History

The town was first mentioned as Munzeluelt documented in the year 634, when King Dagobert I. the possessions of the monastery Trier Oeren confirmed.
