Mošnov

Mošnov ( German angel Forest) is a municipality with 676 inhabitants ( 2006) in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 km west of Frýdek- Místek and 20 km south-west of Ostrava in Kuhländchen and belongs to Okres Nový Jičín. The land area is 1206 ha

Geography

The village is situated in 253 m asl right of the Lubina river in north-south direction. In the west and north it is moved around from state road 58 between Příbor and Ostrava. Northwest of Mošnov is the international Ostrava Leoš Janáček Airport (OSR / LKMT )

Neighboring towns are Petřvaldík in the north, and Dvorek Petřvald in the northeast, Trnavka in the east, in the southeast Kateřinice, Skorotín and Skotnice in the south, Sedlnice the southwest, Malá Strana in the west and Albrechtičky in the northwest.

History

Angel forest was probably in the 13th century in the colonization of the area of the rule Hochwald. Opposite him on the left Lubinaufer was the settlement Mošnovec. The first written record of the German colonists village dates back to 1367th At that time it was the rule Neuhübel ( Nová Horka ) humbly and its largest city. 1806 was built in place of a detectable since 1660 wooden church of St. Margaret Church as stone construction. 1939, the place had 923 inhabitants, of whom 41 were Czechs. After 1945, the German inhabitants were expelled. The built 1955-1960 airfield brought the village an upswing. Until 1993, he served as a military airfield and was then privatized with the exception of air freight. He now serves as an international airport for the Greater Ostrava.
