Mount-Field-Nationalpark

Mount Field National Park (English Mount Field National Park ) is a national park in the Australian state of Tasmania. He is known especially for the Russell Falls.

Located in the National Park Mount Mawson is next to Ben Lomond one of the safest ski areas of Tasmania.

Geography

The national park is about 159 square kilometers and is located about 65 km north- west of the capital Hobart. In it, among others, are Mount Field West.

Vegetation

The park is characterized by a particular vegetation diversity. In addition to forest areas with high Swamp Gums, a eucalyptus, there are huge tree ferns, rainforest and alpine vegetation in the higher areas. Some of the up to 400 year old trees have a height of 90 meters and a circumference of 20 m.

Wildlife

The vast majority of home in Tasmania agricultural and tree-dwelling mammal species is found in the National Park. As an endangered species of Tüpfelbeutelmarder and the Tasmanian long bandicoots are mentioned. The last known Tasmanian Tiger was captured in the area

History

The national park was founded on August 29, 1916 and is the Freycinet National Park, the oldest national park in Tasmania.
