Moyamba District

Moyamba is a district of Sierra Leone with about 261,000 inhabitants. It belongs to the province of Southern and is located in the southwest of the country on the Atlantic coast. Its capital is Moyamba, another larger places are Kpetewoma, Shenge, Largo and Rotifunk. The district is divided into 14 chiefdoms ( chiefdoms ).

Moyamba covers an area of ​​6892 km ². At the district includes the island Plantain.

The inhabitants of the Moyamba District mainly belong to the ethnic groups of the Mende, Sherbro - Bullom, Temne and Loko and are mostly Muslims.
