The SuperSpeed ​​1 is one of the Color Line ferry. Like her sister ship SuperSpeed ​​2 it was built at the Finnish shipyard Aker Yards. It can reach a maximum speed of 27 knots. The SuperSpeed ​​1 is traveling since March 2008, the route Kristiansand ( Norway) and Hirtshals (Denmark), replacing the Christian IV Travel time is since then only 3 hours and 15 minutes.

History

In the spring of 2004, the Color Line began planning for new ferries for the Skagerrak traffic. The ships had to reach a speed such that they only needed for the night crossings cabins for the truck driver. On 15 December 2005 the construction contract to Aker Yards Finn was awarded in Rauma.

In early 2011 the ship for 12.7 million euros in Finland was rebuilt, so that as of February 1, 2011 400 passengers can be transported in addition. After the expansion is on board the largest pizza restaurant in Europe with around 500 seats.

Equipment

On board there is a large buffet restaurant with hot and cold dishes; these are not included in the ticket price. A café, a coffee bar and various shops are also available.
