Mughalsarai (including Mughal Sarai, Moghalsarai; Hindi: मुग़लसराय Muġalsarāy [ ˌ mʊɣʌlsʌrɑ ː j]) is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, with around 110,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). It is located in the district of Chandauli Uttar Pradesh to the east about 10 kilometers east of the city of Varanasi ( Benares ).

Mughalsarai is located on the Grand Trunk Road highway, whose course today the National Highway 2 from Delhi to Kolkata follows. The city is a major railway junction. The distance from Delhi via Allahabad and Patna to Howrah and Delhi via Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Varanasi and Gaya to Howrah.
