The Logos II ex Antonio Lazaro was originally a Mediterranean ferry, later a Christian mission ship of Operation Mobilisation. It was used among other things to bring Christian literature ( in the local language ) in the ports of the western hemisphere, especially the countries in need, too.

History

The ship was in 1968 by Unión Naval de Levante built in Valencia (Spain) and provided by the Compañía Transmediterránea as Antonio Lazaro in service. It was named after Antonio Lázaro Senso, Bishop of Astorga 1913 - 1941st The Antonio Lazaro sailed first as a Mediterranean ferry line Malaga - Melilla, later the line Palma - Valencia - Alicante. The capacity of Antonio Lazaro was 600 passengers, in addition cars could be transported.

The Antonio Lazaro was sister ship to the Vincente Puchol.

On 21 October 1988, the sale to Educational Book Exhibits Ltd., where it was renamed the Logos II and was thoroughly renovated and remodeled. The logo was used II of Operation Mobilisation ( OM short ) as a replacement for the recently spilled in the Beagle Channel on the basis and Discontinued logos. Core task of the Logos II was the dissemination of literature ( Christian books, teaching and non-fiction ), intercultural exchange (mainly in collaboration with local Christian churches ), as well as the practical assistance service. The crew of the ship consisted in a 214 person volunteer team.

On 20 June 2007, the Logos II collided during docking maneuvers in Jersey with an oyster boats, which was damaged. More misfortunes of the ship are not known.

After 20 years of use, the Logos II was sold on 29 September 2008 for scrapping in Turkey. During their deployment as a mission ship visited about 350 ports in 81 countries and had over 10 million visitors on board. Your tasks in OM were adopted by the Logos Hope. From 1977 to 2009 OM operation with Doulos, a second ship of the same task.

Specifications

The ship was powered by two ten-cylinder two-stroke diesel engines of manufacturer B & W: driven with an output of 4,592 kW (Type 1035 VBF 62). The engines worked on two controllable pitch propellers.

For the power supply three alternators were available, two of which each one MWM diesel engine (type: 440-8 TBD) with an apparent power of 650 kVA and one of a Mitsubishi diesel engine (type: 56R2 - MPTK ) with an apparent power of 600 kVA were driven.
