The Minerva is a cruise ship sailing under charter for Swan Hellenic. Bereedert is the ship of V. Ships Leisure in Monaco.

History

The ship was found in 1996 as Minerva for Swan Hellenic Cruises in service. Originally the ship for the Soviet Navy was provided. Lack of money and the perestroika meant, however, that it was never completed. The hull was later towed to the Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, where it then a cruise ship was built. The ship can accommodate 350 passengers in 198 cabins. For passengers, there are six decks available.

Until 2003, the Minerva drove for Swan Hellenic. Then the ship by Saga Cruises was used as Saga Pearl. From the beginning of March 2005 to May 2008 it was in the summer months as an Alexander von Humboldt for Phoenix Reisen go. In addition, the ship has been used since 2003 in the winter months as the Explorer II by Abercrombie & Kent for expedition cruises to Antarctica.

In May 2008, this charter contracts had expired and the ship has since been further operated after extensive remodeling and renovation work at Swan Hellenic Minerva under the old name. Phoenix had travel from 1 May 2008 under the name of Alexander von Humboldt a new ship in use, the former Calypso.

Swan Hellenic is the ship for cruises mainly in Nordland, the Baltic, the Mediterranean, in the Antarctic and in Africa. For use in Antarctica, the ship is equipped with Zodiacs (large inflatables ), with the help of landings on the coast are possible.
