The Ocean Life is a cruise ship that was built in 1981 at the shipyard Stocnia Szczecinska in A Warskiego in Szczecin ( Polish People's Republic ) for the state's Black Sea Seereederei ( ГП Черноморское морское пароходство ММФ СССР ) in Odessa in the former Soviet Union. The ship belongs to Dmitriy Shostakovich - class Project 492 B It first bore the name of the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy.

The sister ships are Dmitriy Shostakovich, Georg Ots, Mikhail Suslov, Konstantin Simonov, Mikhail Sholokhov and Konstantin Chernenko.

History

The launch took place in Szczecin on 6 February 1981. For the interior, the ship was transferred to Hamburg. After that was the Lev Tolstoy for Eagle Seetouristik, Stuttgart, in use. In the summer season it was as a car and passenger ferry between Odessa and Istanbul and out of season for cruises of various German broadcasters ( Eagle Seetouristik, Columbus voyages, Neckermann ) used.

In September 2007 the ship was sold to the easy cruise and took in April 2008 under the new name easyCruise Life in service to. easyCruise sold the ship in 2009. since 2010 it went under the name Ocean Life in India. Since 2011, the ship is laid up in Piraeus.

Incidents

  • On 14 June 2008, the easyCruise Life aground on a sandbar off the Greek island of Syros, where no one was injured and caused no damage. After the incident, the ship was towed into the harbor.
  • On 18 November 2010, the Ocean Life was with 401 people on board, including 134 crew members, on its maiden voyage from Goa to Mumbai. About 17 miles off Goa was a crack in the hull, penetrated by the water into the ship. The ship got beat to port side. The Ocean Life was towed back to the Mormugao and then repaired at the shipyard Western India Shipyard. The plan, which was responsible for the flooding, this could not be found.
