The Seabourn Odyssey is a cruise ship of Seabourn Cruise Line (also called " The Yachts of Seabourn "). It was designed by the Norwegian naval architects Petter Yran and Björn Storbraaten and is the lead ship of the " Odyssey " class, which will consist of three vessels.

History

Construction and commissioning

The keel laying of the Seabourn Odyssey Yard No. MAR062 took place on the Cimolai shipyard in San Giorgio di Nogaro on July 16, 2007. Use

Various Mediterranean cruises followed the first Atlantic crossing with the aim Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), where the ship arrived on the morning of 10 November 2009. On January 5, 2010, Seabourn Odyssey ran out to their first world cruise, which ended after 108 days in Piraeus (Greece). The awards were given by the shipping company 39000-363700 euros.

Machinery and drive

The Seabourn Odyssey is equipped with a diesel-electric machine system, which is divided into two independent groups. Four diesel engines drive generators that supply the ship with electricity. The turbo diesel engines are 12 cylinder V-engines from the Series 32 (B3 configuration) by the Finnish manufacturer Wärtsilä. Each engine has a capacity of about 386 liters, the cylinder angle is 55 °. The waste heat of the machinery is used as process heat, among others, for water treatment. The generators come from VEM and develop at a voltage of 6,600 volts a power of 6,920 kVA. Each motor -generator unit has a mass of about 110 tons.

The propeller engines are installed separately from the rest of the machinery in the hull and drift over shafting each one Wärtsilä 5-blade fixed propeller on. To prevent pollution of the sea, the bearings of the propeller shafts are lubricated with seawater.

Cabins and onboard facilities

Aboard the Seabourn Odyssey, there are four different restaurants ( "The Restaurant ", " restaurant 2 ", " The Colonnade " and " Patio Grill " ) and a coffee bar. The wellness area covers an area of ​​over 1,000 m² on two decks. On the open decks, two pools and several hot tubs available. A special feature is the extendable Marina at the stern of the ship.
