Band History

Myrkgrav was founded by Lars Jensen in early 2003 as a solo project. A year later, he released the demo Fra Fjellheimen Kaller, which he sent to various labels, whereupon it finally came to a collaboration with the German label Det Germanske Folket. After numerous problems, the debut album Trollskau, Skrømt was recorded above Kølabrenning in summer 2006 and still published on 27 October of the same year. Since then, Jensen works at the follow-up album Forteljinger frå Finnefjerdingen on which the folk influences are to be further developed. Due to the disappointing collaboration with DGF Myrkgrav be separated from the label and called for not to order there.

The split single Myrkgrav / Voluspaa was released productions with an edition of 500 copies on 7 " - record on 29 April 2011 on the label unit and contains one song the two bands.

In November 2011, Jensen announced at the Ragnarök Festival 2012 to hold a listening session where the upcoming studio album Forteljinger frå Finnefjerdingen was presented in full length and, among other things, the last 50 copies of Trollskau, Skrømt above Kølabrenning were sold.

Style

Music

First, the music style was focused on pure Black Metal. However, during the songwriting demo for Jensen wanted to play a greater part folk elements into his music, which is why you can call the music as a mix of folk and black metal that is similar to the Viking Metal. He therefore describes the style as folcloric extreme metal. Comparisons of his music are, for example, drawn with Falkenbach, Enslaved, Månegarm, Windir, Einherjer, Cor Scorpii, Mistur and Ulfhednar. Metal Hammer writer Gunnar Sauermann described the music on their debut album as equipped with " majestic [n ] melodies, anthemic [n ] song structures, desert [n ] Krächzgesänge [ s ], [ and ] raised [m ] clean vocals."

Texts

According to his own statements Jensens texts are based on old stories, tales and legends from the Ringerike Province, Jensen's home, mainly from the 17th to the late 19th century. You are a written a local dialect of Norwegian. The idea for these topics came Jensen fairly soon because it fascinated him since his youth for old stories from his home and " dust and to life " by the adaptation in his music wanted to help.
