Falkenbach

Falkenbach is a Viking-/Pagan-Metal-Projekt of grew up in Iceland and now back in Germany ( Dusseldorf ) living Markus " Vratyas Vakyas " Tümmers (German, The seeking hikers ').

Band History

Falkenbach was launched in 1989 with the release of the first demo tape Havamal, were produced of which only nine copies, but the band's name has not yet appeared on this demo. At the beginning, these were at very folkloric music, with acoustic guitar, percussion and clean vocals, later the music was moving more and more towards Metal.

In 1995 Vratyas Vakyas in the Icelandic national park Þingvellir, the first according to his information official cassette Laeknishendr ( Old Icelandic: Healing Hands ' ) and published it in an edition of 33 pieces; the previous recordings were not intended for distribution to persons unknown to him. According to him, it was him when shipping the cassette to record companies not primarily about a contract, but for your feedback on music and lyrics. Many of the record companies have, however, copy the cartridge or even sold, and betrayed him despite enclosed return postage. Therefore, he saw a 33er - edition to be too high, and published the next cassette, Skinn af sverði SÖL valtiva (, The sun is shining on the swords of Gods '), in an edition of 9 pieces and passed it on only to supporters and friends he trusted that they would not replace it. He got feedback according to its own information of Solistitium Records No Colours Records Merciless Records, Massacre Records, Adipocere Records Morbid Records Osmose Productions, three of these record companies should have had interest in a contract with Falkenbach. He decided on No Colours Records, because this record company had shown real interest in the concept of Falkenbach. After the conclusion of the contract Steffen and Kay wanted from No Colours nor a promo cassette with two or three songs for the Vratyas Vakyas a song and the title of Laeknishendr Galdralag chose. A payment for the cassette he refused, he saw it as a gift to your friends. Tümmers ' own statements according to which he has given over the years nine demos in small editions.

In 1995 work began on the debut album Fireblade, but these were canceled due to problems with the equipment. Conjectures that these were published by No Colours Records in 1997 under the band name Vargas, denied this, although the songs of Vargas passed largely from Falkenbach material. He was, however, in 1998 Chronicles of Chaos that Vargas would be the only band that plays similar music to Falkenbach.

Instead of Fireblade Vakyas now working on ... En Their medh riki fara ... ( ... And glorious it will happen ... ' ), with their choice of studios, the duration of recordings and all other freedoms were left. Vratyas Vakyas announced that this would probably be the only album of the band. Due to the poor quality cover another booklet was taken for the second version. The first version is limited to about 1500 publications and in the booklet contains the only existing photo of Vratyas Vakyas; in his opinion, music, text and content should be in the foreground, the cult of personality he reject; also go his private life nobody's business to which he had no personal relationship. Their En ... riki fara ... medh remained the only publication on No Colours Records, or the publication of right-wing bands like Nokturnal Mortum Graveland and for Vratyas Vakyas " to sign neither the reason there, nor the reason to change " was; it was indifferent to him which bands are on the same label as Falkenbach or appear in the same magazine.

Appeared in 1998, the follow-up album ... Magni blandinn ok megintiri ... ( ... Mixed with starch and proud splendor ... ') with Napalm Records; the album was more melodic than its predecessor and has been praised by magazines high. It is the last album that was involved in the Vratyas alone. Then it was quiet around the project; In an interview Tümmers said he " think it's important to have the right time for an album, without paying attention to commercial aspects. " In 2003 he published then the follow-up album Ok nefna tysvar ty (, And call twice Tyr ... '). For the first time the Luxembourg symphonic metal band Vindsval were other people to Falkenbach involved with three musicians. The seven songs contained hardly influences of Black Metal, Tümmers used only in a song ( Vanadis ) Screaming. On 25 November 2005, the fourth album, Heralding the Fireblade appeared. It contains pieces that should be published on the originally planned debut album Fireblade, and other newly recorded old demos; accordingly " clearly adheres to them the mighty spirit of the debuts, ... en Their medh riki fara '. " Even for this album Tümmers was supported by the three Vindsval musicians. Originally it was intended as a debut album, but was postponed due to problems on the part Vratyas Vakyas. However, the album contains more songs than the original album and has a slightly different name ( Fireblade ).

In 2006, the two Falkenbach tribute albums appeared ... on Homage to Falkenbach Part I and Part II with songs by Eluveitie, Bewitched, avenging angels and other bands in an edition of 500 copies.

On January 28, 2011 released their fifth album Tiurida, was announced on August 1, 2011 that Vratyas Vakyas signed to Prophecy Productions.

On April 26, 2013, the song Eweroun appeared on a vinyl single, which is limited to 500 copies. On November 1, then appeared the accompanying album Asa on CD and vinyl.

Label

Markus Tümmers plays a very critical attitude towards "big" record companies and magazines in the metal sector, accusing them of to determine the success or failure of a band by their preference financial interests and marketability of a band 's artistic potential. For this reason Tümmers founded his own label Skaldic kind, were published on the albums, among others, of Rivendell, Menhir and Vindsval, and in which all the bands artistic liberties were guaranteed. Due to time constraints presented Tümmers the activities of the label in 2006.

Texts and ideology

Vratyas Vakyas is mainly interested in two theories: Ásatrú and Vatan. Falkenbach often deals with themes of Edda, the how this is carried forward in Old Icelandic language. Vratyas Vakyas but insists that the issue " only a part of many in the texts Falk Bach is "; the Edda shows how Ásatrú get knowledge that must be deciphered, however, and adjusted by Christian additions. In addition to the Eddas and own texts he refers among other things to Tacitus. Compared to Voices from the Darkside expressed Vratyas Vakyas, Falkenbach try to reach people who are pagan in the heart 100 %, and may give some people a new impetus. There is not going to him for the sale of his music, but the association of those who are of the same spirit and blood; Falkenbach is not a " leader", but could be more compared to the Gjallarhorn, that will unite all the nations. 99% of listeners would misunderstand the message, but the rest was worth dying for; it should be this one percent, however, do not, there would be no reason to continue Falkenbach.

Vratyas Vakyas took over the Polish magazine erupted Evil mid-1990s ethnopluralistische positions and stated that he "could not understand how anyone can be proud of a nation," because there are no more countries give due of multiculturalism, which " are worth, to be called a nation '. There are no limits and no real identity more ". He was of the view " every race, every culture" is worth preserving, which is impossible if you mix them, and asked, " How can I be proud of Germany, when hardly anyone remembers his own genius and Germany no longer Germania is? "However Vakyas stressed that his music is generally free of any political worldviews.
