Mýto pod Ďumbierom

Mýto pod Ďumbierom ( until 1927 slovak " Mýto "; Mauth German, Hungarian Vamos - to 1888 Mito ) a place and a municipality in Brezno is Okres ( Banskobystrický kraj ) in the middle of Slovakia, with 526 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located in the eastern part of the region Horehronie ( Horehronie ) by the stream Štiavnička. The municipality is located in the foothills of the Low Tatras under the mountain Dumbier ( 2046 m nm), the highest elevation of the Low Tatras. Besides the aligned towards Podbrezová valley there are passports Pohansko ( 733 m nm) southeast of the village to the city of Brezno, Čertovica ( 1232 m nm) up the valley in the landscape Liptau. The city center is 10 miles from Brezno and 42 kilometers from Banská Bystrica located.

History

The town was founded in the 15th century on a path to the saddle Čertovica and the city Briesen was subject. Here was the site of a toll gate. For this he was a local residence miners who worked at a gold wash or in a coal distillery. Only in the course of the 17th century, the city reached independence.

The population peaked in 1940 with about 1,200 inhabitants, now live a bit more than 500 residents in the community.
