Nagarhole-Nationalpark

The Nagarhole National Park, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a sanctuary in south India in the state of Karnataka. It is nestled between the Western Ghats and the Nilgiribergen and extends over an area of ​​about 640 square kilometers in the districts of Kodagu and Mysore. Together with the neighboring Bandipur National Park ( 870 km ²) and Mudumalai National Park ( 320 km ²), it forms the largest protected area complex of Southern India.

The vegetation consists mainly of tropical forests and bush and grasslands. The north-western areas of the reserve are wetter than the southern areas, where the park is adjacent to the Bandipur National Park.

The reserve offers numerous large animals that are already extinct elsewhere, habitat. Nagarhole has about a substantial elephant population, which accumulate during the dry season especially at the reservoirs. At large predators tigers, leopards, sloth bears and Asiatic wild dogs occur. The ungulates are represented by Gaure, four- horn antelope, sambar, Axishirsche, muntjac, India Kant Chile and wild boar.
