Naim Talu

Mehmet Naim Talu ( born July 22, 1919 in Istanbul, † May 15, 1998 ) was a Turkish banker, politician and former Prime Minister of Turkey.

Life

Talu 1943 studied economics at the University of Istanbul. He then worked for a while with the Sümerbank, a state-owned textile complex. In 1946, he joined the Central Bank of Turkey. In 1967 he was appointed Director General of the Bank. After the reorganization of the Central Bank in 1970, he became governor of that institution.

Naim Talu began his political career in 1971 by appointment as Trade Minister Nihat Erim in the second cabinet. He was 1974-1976 Member of Akbank, one of the largest banks in Turkey.

Talu was married and had two daughters.
