Nakomiady

Nakomiady [ nakɔm adɨ ʲ ] ( German calibration media ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It belongs to the Gmina Kętrzyn (municipality Rastenburg ) in Kętrzyński powiat ( county Rastenburg )

Geographical location

Nakomiady is located about ten miles southeast of downtown Rastenburg and 68 kilometers east of the city of Olsztyn ( Olsztyn ).

History

The former estate village was created by Commander Konrad Kyburg 1392-1396. He built a castle in the village. Renewed in 1402, the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order Ulrich von Jungingen the privileges of the village after Kulm law. The castle was later damaged so badly that only the basement and the foundations remained.

The estate village got a new manor house, whose construction was completed in 1680 in the 17th century. Owner of the village at the time was John of Hoverbeck, a consultant of Elector Frederick William of Brandenburg- Prussia, who had been involved in the conclusion of the Treaty of Wehlau.
