Nedožery-Brezany

Nedožery - Brezany is the name of a double municipality in the west - central Slovakia, with 2111 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Prievidza, a circle of higher administrative unit Trenčín Region.

Geography

Nedožery - Brezany lies in the basin Hornonitrianska kotlina (literally upper Nitra valley ) on the upper course of the river Nitra. East of the church rises the mountain Žiar. The community is located about four kilometers from Prievidza.

Administratively divided the community in parts of municipalities and Brezany Nedožery.

History

Today's church was built in 1964 by the merger previously independent places Brezany (Hungarian Berzseny ) and Nedožery ( German sub toll, Hungarian Nádasér ).

Nedožery was first mentioned in writing in 1264 and was until the 19th century the site of a toll gate.

The first written mention of Brezany dates from 1267.
