Neo Rauch

Neo Rauch ( born April 18, 1960 in Leipzig ) is a German painter who is internationally recognized as a significant artist of his generation and as a pioneer of the "New Leipzig School ".

Life

Rauch's parents died four weeks after his birth in a train accident on 15 May 1960. He grew up with his grandparents in Aschersleben and put on the Advanced High School " Thomas -Müntzer " (now high school Stephaneum ) the Abitur. At the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts smoke studied painting: first (1981-1986) with Professor Arno Rink, from 1986 to 1990, he completed a master student studying with Professor Bernhard Heisig. From 1993 to 1998 he worked as an assistant to Arno Rink at the Leipzig Academy. Work

Rauch's imagery is characterized by a bright opaque color and shows pieces in overlapping areas and times. The style permeates the socialist realism, but is also influenced by pop art and comic.
