Neven Subotic ( Serbian Cyrillic Невен Суботић; born December 10, 1988 in Banja Luka, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian football player who is under contract with Borussia Dortmund and plays for the Serbian national football team.

Biography
Subotic was born in Banja Luka. His father was born in Kulasi Zeljko and his mother Svjetlana in Brestovo. His parents moved in 1990 with him and his sister to Germany. The family lived first in Schomberg in space Pforzheim, where he played at the local TSV Schwarzenberg from the F- Youth to Youth D. In 1999 he moved with his parents to Salt Lake City in the United States to escape deportation to Bosnia and Herzegovina. There he played in different clubs.
Subotic is committed to the club as an ambassador for children's laughter.
Career
Association
From college team of the University of South Florida Subotic moved 2006 Bundesliga 1 FSV Mainz 05, in which it was first used in the central defense league team, sometimes also during the A juniors.
On the final day of the 2006/07 season Subotic made his debut at the 05 professionals. Due to the violation of Bo Svensson, he played at the beginning of the 2007/08 season as a central defender alongside Nikolce Noveski to the grid. In total he completed in his first full season as a professional 33 of the 34 possible matches and scored four goals.
For the 2008/09 season Subotic followed his coach Juergen Klopp and moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he signed a contract until 30 June 2013. Already on his debut in the game at Bayer Leverkusen ( 3-2 Dortmund), he scored with a header to the interim 3-1 his first goal for BVB. After saying goodbye to Christian Wörns and Robert Kovač put Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp in the 2008/2009 season on the two only 19 -year-old central defender Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels.
In the press it was first added derisively as " Kinder Riegel ". In fact, the BVB cashed with the new Abwehrduo but only 37 goals and making it the second least the Bundesliga. In the previous season with the veterans Wörns and Kovač, which in turn was ridiculed in the press as " Opa- defense," you left with the worst defense in the Bundesliga with 62 goals conceded.

National
Subotic has the Serbian and U.S. citizenship. He played on the U- 17 to U -20 in the U.S. youth national team; for the latter, he completed two games, scoring no goals.
January 8, 2009 Subotic announced to want to play from now on for the Serbian national football team. Before that Subotic had rejected an offer from the Bosnian football federation, and also in the United States made his decision for disappointment.
The debut in the Serbian national team was Subotic on 28 March 2009 in a World Cup qualifier against Romania, which Serbia won 3-2. His first goal for Serbia Subotic scored in a 2-0 victory on 10 June 2009 against the Faroe Islands.
