History

The church was probably built during the re- settlements during the Reconquista, but the name is Visigoth or other Germanic origin. In the royal surveys of 1258 the church emerged as Novigildo or Novigildiz on already as a separate community. They belonged to the circle Aguiar de Sousa, to include in connection with its resolution since 1852 to Lousada.
