The Newcastle North Stars are a semi-professional Australian ice hockey club based in Newcastle, New South Wales was founded in 1981 and plays in the Australian Ice Hockey League. The North Stars are an Australian record holder.

History

The Newcastle North Stars were founded in 1981. Pending the inclusion in the Australian Ice Hockey League, the top division of the country, in the course of the league's expansion in 2002, the club played exclusively at the local level. The North Stars, who are Australian record champions with four titles, reached from 2002 to 2008 in each season, the playoff finals and won in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008, respectively the Goodall Cup, received by the Australian champion. Only 2004 and 2007 Newcastle lost the final. In the years 2004 and 2009 they took it at least the VIP Cup as the best team in the regular season. After the V.I.P. Cup was replaced for the 2010 season by the H Newman Reid Trophy, the North Stars were able to win this right away as champions of the regular season as well.
