NGC 4555

NGC 4555 is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenices. It is of similar objects extremely isolated. Observations by the Chandra telescope have shown that the galaxy is surrounded by a halo of hot gases. There, temperatures of about 10 million K.

For an elliptical galaxy NGC 4555 has large deposits of dark matter. This apparently prevents the escape of gases from the area. The visible mass of the galaxy alone is not sufficient to hold the gases. It is estimated that the halo of dark matter has ten times the mass of all the stars of the galaxy. Noteworthy is the isolation of NGC 4555th Most elliptical galaxies are part of galaxy clusters. The existing dark matter is a proof that unite individual elliptical galaxies with dark matter.
