Nikola Kovačević

Nikola Kovačević ( Serbian Cyrillic Никола Ковачевић; born February 14, 1983 in Kraljevo, Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian volleyball player.

Career

Kovačević began his career in 1998 at Ribnica Kraljevo. In 2003 he moved to OK Red Star Belgrade. After playing the 2006/07 season in Greece GS Lamia, he reached with the Serbian national team at the 2007 European Championship third place. Subsequently, he was obliged by Italian club Perugia RPA. With the national team reached Kovačević in the world league 2008 final. He then took part in the Olympic tournament in Beijing, which with a 2:3 defeat against eventual Olympic champion United States ended for Serbia in the quarterfinals. In the World League 2009 Serbia reached the finals again. Kovačević played 2009/10 in Greece with Aris Thessaloniki. In the 2010 World Cup national team finished third. The following season the outside attackers at the Italian club Andreoli Latina was active. In 2011, he achieved his greatest success as the final against Italy, he won the European Championship with the national team. Kovačević then moved to the Russian club Gubernia Nizhny Novgorod. In 2012, he was together with his younger brother Uroš in the official squad of the Serbs for the Olympic Games in London.
