Nikon D5100
The Nikon D5100 is a digital SLR ( DSLR) camera with 16.2 - megapixel image sensor DX format and full HD video function. The camera was unveiled on 5 April 2011 and has been available since the end of April. It is the successor to the Nikon D5000. It has a vari-angle display with 3 " and 921,000 pixels and a 11- point autofocus. The video function has been extended to a nachführenden autofocus., The camera stores on a SD memory card. The sensor used and the image processor are the same as in the Nikon D7000.
Innovations for D5000
- Higher resolution ( 16.2 instead of 12.3 megapixels)
- Larger and finer resolution display (7.6 instead of 6.9 cm diagonal, 920,000 instead of 230,000 sub-pixels )
- Pivot axis of the display to the left instead of the bottom
- Auto -tracking focus while recording
- Higher ISO sensitivity ( up to 25,600 )
- An HDR mode
- An additional rear infrared sensor for remote tripping from behind
GPS capability
The D5100 has a combined interface for cable release and a GPS receiver such as the Nikon GP-1 to allow geotagging of JPEG and NEF files. The GPS interface processes in addition to the GPS data and compass information ( Heading). This function is only used by Geotagger third party.
