Ninel Miculescu

Ninel Miculescu (* 1985) is a Romanian weightlifter. It was 2010 European Champion in lightweight ( duel, tearing and piercing ).

Career

Ninel Miculescu began as a teenager with weight lifting. He is a member of the Sport Club Dinamo Bucharest and CS is, since he is a member of the Romanian national team of weightlifters trained by Petre Becheru.

He was as early as 1999 in Lignano Junior European Champion (U 16) in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight with a capacity of 162.5 kg ( 72.5 to 90 ) before the Bulgarians Ivan Stoitschew, many years later, world middleweight champion, was but was then suspended for doping.

Ninel Miculescu won at junior level in 2003 at the European Championships in Valencia featherweight 270 kg ( 125-145 ) once a silver medal. Then he took in 2004 and 2005 at two Junior European Championships and a World Youth Championship in the duel fourth places respectively. It became apparent already that the tearing his strength, thrusting but is his weakness. This was also at the Junior European Championships 2005 in Trencin, where he was in the snatch of the light weight of 143 kg European junior champion.

In 2005 he finished in the Senior World Championships in Doha in lightweight 305 kg ( 140-165 ) the 9th Place. The winner was there the Chinese Shi Ziyong with 360 kg ( 160-190 ). In the 2006 European Championship in Wladyslawowo / Poland, he rose in a duel to 321 kg ( 148-166 ). With this performance, he would have finished fourth in the tackle and would have won in the snatch with 148 kg the European title. But nothing came of it, for he was later disqualified for doping and banned for two years.

Due to this barrier, he missed the opportunity at the Olympic Games to participate in Beijing 2008. In 2009 he came back, however, in the competition scene and finished at the European Championships in Bucharest in lightweight 323 kg ( 150-173 ) the 5th place in the duel. In tearing he became vice European champion with 150 kg. At the 2009 World Championships in Goyang / South Korea it rose to 328 kg ( 155-173 ) and was thus in a duel on the 4th Place. A medal in the duel he missed by its relative weakness in pushing, where he managed only the first attempt. In contrast, tearing, he became Vice World Champion at 155 kg.

At the European Championships 2010 in Minsk to Ninel Miculescu then showed improved especially in putting. He managed there in a duel 333 kg ( 153-180 ) and won with this performance, all three gold medals in single combat, and in the snatch and jerk. The 2nd place in the duel took Gobejew Mikhail from Russia 319 kg ( 148-171 ) before Mete Binay from Turkey, which came to 314 kg ( 149-165 ). In the 2010 World Cup in Antalya Ninel Miculescu improved in a duel to 337 kg ( 157-180 ) and was so behind the towering Chinese Liao Hui, 358 kg ( 16-198 ) Vice World Champion. In tearing he also won a world championship bronze medal with 257 kg.

It is to be hoped that Ninel Miculescu is not again found guilty of doping, because then he would receive as a repeat offender, a lifetime ban as a weightlifter.
