The World Weightlifting Championships 2005 took place from November 9, 2005 until November 17, 2005 in Doha, Qatar instead.

• Wang Mingjuan improved the world record of Li Zhuo and jerk of 113 kg to 118 kg and the world record of Nurcan Taylan in a duel 210 kg to 213 kg.

• Kameaim Wandee improved the world record of Sun Caiyan and jerk of 133 kg to 135 kg after which Gu Wei this again raised to 139 kg. Gu also surpassed the world record of Wang Li in duel of 240 kg and 241 kg.

Class up to 63 kg

• Thongsuk improved the world record of Hanna Batsiushka in the snatch of 115 kg to 116 kg. Furthermore Shimkova lifted 139 kg with a new world record in pushing and thus improved the existing record of Nataliya Skakun with 138 kg 1 kg. Shortly thereafter Thongsuk also broke the record of 140 kg, and thus surpassed the same time the world record of Liu Xia in the duel of 247 kg and 256 kg.

Class up to 69 kg

• Liu Haixia Liu improved Chunhongs world record in pushing 153 kg to 154 kg, which was then surpassed again by Kasaeva 157 kg.

Class up to 75 kg

• Liu Chunhong improved Sabolotnajas first world record in the snatch of 125 kg to 126 kg whereupon Sabolotnaja to the world record of 130 kg upscale brought back. In pushing Podobedova Sun Ruipings world record improved from 152 kg to 155 kg, which was, however, surpassed shortly thereafter by Liu Chunhongs 159 kg. In the duel Sabolotnaja surpassed first the existing world record of Liu Chunhongs 273 kg with 278 kg, after which Podobedova scored 279 kg and was in turn surpassed by Liu's 281 kg. Last lifted Sabolotnaja 285 kg for a new world record in the total.

Class over 75 kg

• Jang Mu improved the world record in pushing from 138 kg to 139 kg.
