Niutao

Niutao is an oval Upscale Atoll in the northern part of Tuvalu in the Pacific. The island is surrounded by mangroves and coral reef. On the atoll there are two salt- containing water lagoons, the larger of the two has three islands and a dam.

2005 lived on the island 663 inhabitants. The two main towns are Kulia and Teava. On the island there is a meeting hall, a hospital, a post office and a church.

1949 settled some residents due to overpopulation on the atoll Niulakita.
