Niwica, Żary County

Niwica ( Zibelle German, Sorbian Cybalin ) is a village in the municipality Trzebiel, powiat Żarski, Poland. It lies between Bad Muskau and Trzebiel ( Triebel ) in the Euro region Neisse on the edge of geologically remarkable hills Muskau Arch.

The boundary between the regions of Lower Lusatia Upper Lusatia and ran 1.5 km north of Zibelle towards Triebel.

History

Originally Zibelle an exclave of the professional Muskau. Documentary nominations are announced for the year 1478 ( Tzebelle, Zcebelle ) and 1551 ( Zibelle ). The name researcher Paul Kuehnel closed on a derivation from the old Slavic word, cebulja ' for onion, Upper Sorbian, cybla '. The locality in the form of a village road was divided at that time in the southwestern Lower Zibelle and the northeastern Upper Zibelle.

The manor was acquired in 1921 by Upper Zibelle the famous Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and physicist Walther Nernst, who lived there, especially after his retirement until his death in 1941 and in the surrounding ponds carp farming operation.
