Nizami Ganjavi

Nezami also Nizami (Persian نظامی گنجوی - Nezami -e Gandschawī, real name: Elyas Ebn -e Yusef, full name: Nezam al- Dīn Abū Muhammad ibn Yusuf ibn Elyas Zakī ibn Mu'ayyid; * to 1141 Ganja (nowadays Azerbaijan), † 1205 or 1209) was a Persian poet.

Life

Nezami Ra'isa mother was a Kurd. From his father Yusuf is believed that his family came from Qom. Nezami orphaned early and was brought up by his maternal uncle, Chwadscha Umar. Nezami married three times.

Nezami was a favorite of the ruling Seldschukenfürsten. About his life, which he spent up on a trip to his native city of Ganja, little is known. In addition to the literature Nezami was well versed in mathematics, astronomy, medicine, jurisprudence, history, philosophy, music and the arts. His students gave him the nickname Hakim ( German Weiser, doctor).

Reception

UNESCO declared the year 1991 Nezami - year.

Works

Nezami main work is the Chamse ( "Five " ) or the " five treasures", which consists of five epics:

  • Machzan ol Asrār ( مخزن الاسرار ) "The Treasure of Secrets ", a didactic poem.
  • Khosrow and Shirin ( خسرو و شيرين ) A romantic epic that has the love of the Persian king Khosrow Shirin to the subject.
  • Laili and Majnun ( ليلى و مجنون ) Romantic epic love of Majnun to the beautiful Leila besingend.
  • Eskandar name ( اسكندر نامه ) " Alexander's book ," a fabulously embellished story of Alexander the Great in two parts, a more epic and didactic, in which, inter alia, the wisdom of the conqueror praised.
  • Detention Peykar ( هفت پيكر ) " The seven portraits " or "The Seven Beauties", a collection of seven short stories in poetic form, including the well-known by Gozzi and Schiller tale of Turandot.

In addition, Nezami wrote another sofa with odes and poems that will contain 28000 Distiche.
