Nobuo Satō

Nobuo Satō (Japanese佐藤 信 夫, Satō Nobuo, born January 3, 1942 in Osaka, Osaka Prefecture) is a former Japanese figure skater and figure skating coach.

Satō was 1957-1966 ten consecutive time Japanese champion in figure skating and thus holds the national title record in the men's competition. He represented Japan at the 1960 Olympics, where he finished 14th and 1964, where he finished eighth. Six times he took part in the World Championships, his best result there was a fourth place at the World Championships in 1965.

Sato is married to the former Japanese figure skating champion Kumiko Ōkawa. Their daughter Yuka Satō 1994 figure skating world champion. Together with Machiko Yamada Sato is one of the most successful coaches in Japan. Of his students were or are Miki Ando, ​​Shoko Ishikawa, Hirokazu Kobayashi, Takahiko Kozuka, Yukari Nakano, Yuka Satō, Wun - Chang Shih, Fumie Suguri and Mao Asada.

In 2010, Nobuo Satō was inducted into the Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
