Novoyavorivsk

Nowojaworiwsk (Ukrainian Новояворівськ; Russian Новояворовск / Nowojaworowsk ) is a small Ukrainian town with just over 26,000 residents. It is located in the Lviv Oblast (Lviv ) and just west of the district capital, Lviv. The nearest large city is Lviv, the municipality also includes the villages Kohuty ( Когути ) and Steni ( Стені ).

The town was established in 1965 because of sulfur mining in the area as Jantarne ( Янтарне = "Bernstein " ) re-established, in 1969 he was awarded the status of an urban-type settlement and was renamed Nowojaworiwske ( Новояворівське ), since 1986, he has the status of a city under Rajonsverwaltung within the Rajons Yavoriv. On 3 June 2008 the town's name was changed in Nowojaworiwsk.

The city's name is derived from the the nearby town Yavoriv.
