Nyngan

Nyngan is a city in the Australian state of New South Wales and is located about 580 kilometers northwest of Sydney.

The town was founded in 1891 and now has 1975 inhabitants.

The city lies on the Mitchell Highway, the Barrier Highway branches off in Nyngan and leads from here to Broken Hill.

At the brink of April / May 1990 Nyngan was the hardest hit by the heavy rains in the region. Almost all the buildings were under water and the population had to be evacuated.
