History

The Offenbacher Ostbahnhof was opened on 15 November 1873 as a station on the railway line Hanau- Frankfurt. On October 30, 1896, the Rodgaubahn was added ( railway Offenbach- clean home ). On the Rodgaubahn has been operating since 2003, the S -Bahn line S1 S-Bahn Rhein -Main, but not to clean home, but only up Rödermark - Ober-Roden, where connection is made to the Opened in 1905, Dreieich train to Dieburg. Between Dieburg and clean home the railway line has been removed. On 23 May 1995, the City Tunnel Offenbach was opened. Through these, the S- Bahn lines S1, S2, S8 and S9 go to Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof or Niedernhausen via Frankfurt Central Station. At the same time the opening of the S-Bahn tunnel was a parallel to Bebra railway running track that Südmainische S -Bahn opened. This since the opening serves exclusively the S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 on the road to Hanau.

Current situation

The station serves exclusively the S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S8 and S9. Regional and long-distance trains pass through on the Frankfurt- Bebra railway / Kinzig Valley Railway, which no longer has a platform.

Infrastructure

The station has three platform tracks, which are used in the S- Bahn services regularly. The remote tracks, located north of the S -Bahn, have no platform and are separated from the S- Bahn tracks by a soundproof wall. At the western station head two tracks leading into the tunnel towards Frankfurt, and a track leading to the Offenbach Hauptbahnhof. This track was previously regularly used by the S2, today only in exceptional cases. At the eastern station head to the S-Bahn routes branch at the same level in the direction of Hanau and Offenbach - Bieber. Here is between the path branches to a parking area for S -Bahn trains, which has its justification in that numerous trains from Frankfurt end in Offenbach Ost.

Operation

All S - Bahn trains in a base clock of 30 minutes. At rush hour this basic clock is compressed to a 15 -minute intervals. Since the S8 and S9 operate on the same routes at almost, there, the clock cycle is generally 15 minutes. The S8 runs only during rush hour to Hanau, otherwise ends or begins in Offenbach Ost. The S1 starts sporadically in Offenbach Ost and then only goes to Frankfurt-Höchst and Hochheim.

The connection Offenbach Ost -Offenbach Hbf was cut because the features of the S2 are bound by since that date through the tunnel of the City route Offenbach and Frankfurt S-Bahn tunnel on June 14, 2010.

Bus

The East Railway Station is served by bus lines 102, 103, 106, 107, V07, V17, V20 and the Frankfurt night bus n61. These buses are operated by the regional traffic Hesse-Cassel GmbH and Offenbacher Transport Authority ( accurate under transport in Offenbach am Main).

Future

The city of Offenbach aims to merge the main and the Ostbahnhof to link there bus, S -Bahn, regional and long distance traffic in a transport hub. The German Bahn AG is these plans, but because of the existing good links Offenbach to Frankfurt Main Station and the busy Frankfurt- Bebra railway critically.
