Okan Buruk

Okan Buruk (born 19 October 1973, Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach. His older brother Fuat Buruk was also active as a professional football player.

Playing career

1991 Okan played for the first time as a professional football player for Galatasaray. With Galatasaray Okan won many titles, including six Turkish league titles, four Turkish Cup wins, a UEFA Cup win and a UEFA Super Cup titles ( 2000). Okan Buruk is one of the few Turkish players who earned their money in the Italian Serie A. February 2001 signed the midfielder with his club mates Emre Belözoğlu a contract with Inter Milan. However, he had major adjustment problems, above all, he lay down in frequently with his teammate Marco Materazzi.

In July 2004, he returned in the Turkish Süper Lig and signed this time at archrival Beşiktaş Istanbul a two year contract. In 2006 he finally returned to Galatasaray. After his contract expired on 30 June 2008 and Galatasaray was present to him no new offer, Buruk moved to Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor.

Functionary and Trainierkarriere

After two years with Istanbul BB, he finished his career. From August 2010 to November 2011 Buruk was team manager of the Turkish national football team. With Abdullah Avcı as coach of the Turkish national football team Buruk became his assistant coach. Following the resignation Avcı in August 2013 Buruk was not retained by the new coach Fatih Terim.

On October 28, 2013 were Okan Buruk head coach at Sanica Boru Elazığspor.
