Mesut Bakkal

Mesut Bakkal ( born March 19, 1964 in Kırıkkale ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach.

Career

Player

Bakkal played at the beginning of his active career at MKE Kirikkalespor and, after two years Denizlispor. For Denizlispor the midfielder played a total of ten years. At the end of his career, he signed with Izmirspor.

Coach

Mesut Bakkal was from 1998 to 2005 assistant coach at Denizlispor, MKE Ankaragucu and Gençlerbirliği Ankara and assisted in these associations Ersun Yanal. After Yanal was appointed turquoise chan coach in 2004, Bakkal Yanal also followed here and worked until the summer of 2005 as co - trainer.

With all three clubs where he was previously an assistant coach, he was later head coach. This was followed by Gaziantepspor, Manisaspor, Sivasspor and last Samsunspor.

His greatest success as a coach was the arrival in the Turkish Cup final with Gençlerbirliği Ankara in the 2007/ 08 season. They lost the final on penalties to Kayserispor with 10:11. Samsunspor he could not save from relegation in the 2011/12 season. As a consequence Bakkal resigned as manager of Samsunspor.

On November 5, 2012 Bakkal took over the team of Kardemir Karabükspor. He was the successor to Michael Skibbe. Bakkal led Karabükspor quickly into the upper half of the table and made by surprise victory against Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor that the trade press has been aware of Karabükspor.
