Oldmeldrum

Oldmeldrum, usually just called Meldrum, is a village in the Scottish unitary authority Aberdeenshire. It is about 20 km north- west of Aberdeen and 30 km south-southeast of Banff. Between 1911 and 1951, the population remained constant at just over 1100. Oldmeldrum in 2001 recorded 2003 inhabitants, which means almost a doubling of the population within 50 years. Since 1825, the distillery Glen Garioch is based in Oldmeldrum.

Traffic

The link road from Aberdeen to Banff runs through Oldmeldrum. The A96, which runs from Aberdeen to Inverness runs about seven kilometers south-west of Inverurie. A railway station, the Great North of Scotland Railway operated, was abandoned in the 1960s.
