Ole Bjørnmose

Ole Bjørnmose ( born April 7, 1944 in Odense, † September 5, 2006 in Fredericia ) was a Danish footballer who was active from 1966 to 1977 in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV. Until April 13, 2008 when he was surpassed by Bosnian Sergej Barbarez, he held the record for most Bundesliga appearances for a foreigner in 11 years, there were 323 applications.

SV Werder Bremen

In the summer of 1966, the 22- year-old striker and midfielder from Odense BK came to the river Weser. The German champion in 1965 but could just reach the league still with 16th place under coach Günter Brocker. For the tech-savvy Danes was in this round little place in the team, he came only five appearances. In his second Bundesliga season, but he was a regular player, completed all 34 games, scoring eight goals also. Together with the coach Fritz Langner he was pleased with the runner-up also. In the following three rounds Werder placed in midfield and Bjørnmose moved to the 1970/71 season under coach Robert Gebhardt for Hamburger SV. He had scored 21 goals from 1966-71 in 137 games for Werder Bremen.

After this round Ole Björnmose ended his professional career and returned to his native Danish. For the HSV he had been from 1971-77 in 186 games with 31 goals in the Bundesliga in use.

For Denmark, he had completed 16 A- international caps and two games in the junior national team.

After returning to his Danish home Bjørnmose worked as an electrician in regional power in Fredericia, until he retired in early 2006. In early September of the same year he died unexpectedly.
