The Alexei - Butowski - Vorskla Stadium (Ukrainian: Стадіон " Ворскла » імені Олексія Бутовського ) is a football stadium with track and field facility in the central Ukrainian city of Poltava. It can accommodate 24,795 spectators and is in possession of the football club Vorskla Poltava their team, their games discharges here. The name of the stadium is derived from the river Vorskla, on which the city is located Poltava. Since 22 June 2008, is nicknamed Alexei Butowski; after a Russian general and a founding member of the IOC.

History

The Vorskla Stadium in Poltava was built in 1951. On May 2, 1951, the inauguration of the stadium took place. Four years later the club Vorskla Poltava was founded, which uses it since its inception as a home ground. Vorskla was until now once Ukrainian Cup winner ( 2009). The only championship in league play earned the club by winning the second Ukrainian Premier League in 1996. Currently plays Vorskla in the Premjer - Liha in the upper third and is now one of the top teams in the Ukrainian football.
