The Oblasnyj Sportywnyj complex ( OSK ) Metalist (Ukrainian: Обласний Спортивний Комплекс " Металіст " ), named Metalist Stadium, the second largest Ukrainian city of Kharkiv is the venue of the football club Metalist Kharkiv. In August 2013, the club took over for 64 million euros, the renovated for 75 million euros from the stadium Oblast Kharkiv.

History

Construction on the stadium began in 1925 on behalf of Anastas Mikoyan. On September 12, 1926, the stadium was opened and was called tractor Stadium; because a local tractor manufacturer to build financially supported. For the inauguration played Metalist Kharkiv to Dnipropetrovsk 2-2 draw. In 1949 it was renamed in honor of Felix Dzerzhinsky to Bolsheviks in Dzerzhinsky Stadium. Then in 1967 it got its present name Oblasny sports complex ( OSK ) Metalist; at that time it had a capacity of 10,000 spectators.

To this day, the sports venue went through four major renovations. The first modification concerned the West Stand in 1966 /67. 1970 started the construction of the North and the Südranges and after four years of construction, the stadium had a capacity of 30,000 seats. The third construction project on the east and south stand in 1979 tackled, but postponed indefinitely after the demolition of Südranges. Only after almost twenty years, in 1998 the construction was resumed and built a new East Stand and partially built a Südrang. Most users ever comes of 23 September 1980, when Metalist Kharkiv against Tawrija Simferopol played in front of 42,000 spectators.

Conversion for Euro 2012

For the European Football Championship 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, the venue between 2008 and 2009 has been extensively renovated with a capacity of 41 307 seats. The South Stand was completed and erected a new East Stand. The Arena got a new roof, which is supported by a steel frame construction and all ranks covered. The VIP area includes 438 seats, of which 124 are in the boxes. The flood light shines at 2400 lux on the pitch, and for journalists 600 jobs are provided. The disabled visitors 104 places on offer, including 30 specifically for the blind. In the press box there are 86 commentary positions. A new plastic raceway received the stadium, as well as two video scoreboards and a Bose sound system.

The renovated stadium was on 5 December 2009, on the 50th anniversary of the club president Olexandr Jaroslawskyj reopened. The first meeting in the renovated stadium was the championship match between Metalist Kharkiv and Obolon Kiev, which won the team from Kiev 1-0.

During the European Championship three group stage matches took place in Kharkiv.
