Oliver Palotai

Oliver Palotai ( born March 17, 1974 in Sindelfingen ) is a versatile German live and studio musician and member of the Symphonic / Prog / Power Metal band Kamelot. Away from the stage, he has also worked as a songwriter, record producer and orchestrator.

Biography

At the age of eight years Oliver Palotai began to learn to play classical piano. From 1992 to 1995 he attended the music school of Tübingen and took lessons in jazz guitar at Wieland Harms.

From 1991 to 1995, he worked as a freelance journalist for the newspaper from a newspaper and the district Böblingen messenger in the field of music journalism. In the local paper Böblinger messenger he also completed a practical training in the field of journalism. Afterwards, however, he focused entirely on music and studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Zurich and David Gazarov in Munich. At the Academy of Music Nuremberg -Augsburg he studied under Prof. Martin Schrack. In 2002 he received his diploma as a music teacher and in 2003 he graduated as a professional musician.

During the study, Oliver Palotai 1998-2001 Member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Baden -Württemberg, under the direction of Prof. Bernd Konrad.

In 1999, he won with the jazz quintet Keechero the 1st prize at Youth Jazz, hosted by the German Music Council in Rostock. In Youth Jazz is one of the most important German competitions for young German jazz musicians. The band won a recording contract with Mons Records. With the band Psilocybe he won the 3rd place at the German Rock & Pop Award in Cologne, Germany's largest competition for rock and pop musicians.

In 2001 he began to play in her solo band as keyboardist and guitarist for Doro Pesch (ex - Warlock ). This was followed by tours around the world (2001-2007) and in 2002 the work on the album Fight. After that, he was also on the studio albums Classic Diamonds ( 2004), Warrior Soul (2006) and Fear No Evil (2009) to hear. For Classic Diamonds also he wrote a part of the orchestral arrangements.

From 2003 to 2007 he also played as a live musician (guitar / keyboards) in various well-known metal bands such as Circle II Circle (2003 ) BLAZE (2004-2007) and Uli Jon Roth ( 2004).

In addition to touring in the world of metal he was still to be found in other areas of music. He won in 2003 with the Paduiva Trio and his own compositions, the first prize in the competition for jazz bands of the Rotary Club / Academy of Music Nuremberg. In the Classic Night Orchestra Symphony 2004 he played keyboards and was responsible for the arrangements.

In 2005, he joined the American symphonic metal band Kamelot on as a keyboardist. This was followed by regular tours around the globe. His first album with Kamelot One Cold Winter was the Live-CD/DVD 's Night (2006). Since then, he has also been heard on the studio albums Ghost Opera (2007), Poetry for the Poisoned (2010) and Silverthorn (2012 ). In Silverthorn he was also the first time heavily involved in the songwriting and the orchestrations.

In 2007 he was elected to Metal Temple.net for Best Keyboardist. In the same year founded Palotai Sons of Seasons, his first band. A year later, the band got a record deal with Napalm Records. Since then, the debut album Gods Of Vermin (2009), as well as the follow-up work Magnisphyricon (2011) have been published.

In recent years, Oliver Palotai's focus shifted somewhat away from principal activities as live musician, go to work in the studio. Since 2012 Oliver Palotai also works as a music teacher at the School of Music, Theatre and Dance ( SMTT ) in Sindelfingen.

In October 2013 he received and his longtime partner, Simone Simons, their first child, Vincent P..
