Order of Friendship of Peoples

The Order of Friendship of Peoples (Russian Орден Дружбы народов ) was on October 17, 1972, donated and of 29 December 1972 conferred until December 21, 1991 Order of the Soviet Union. This order was founded to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Soviet Union. It was sent to citizens and non- citizens of the Soviet Union, businesses, organizations and military units, which strengthened the Interstate Friendship, awarded. Overall, the Order was awarded 72 760 times. Between March 1992 and March 1994, the award has also been awarded by the President of Russia in a modified form of total 1212 times.

On March 2, 1994 by the decree № 442 of the President of the Russian Order of Friendship was founded, which is regarded as the successor of the Soviet award. In Belarus, an Order of Friendship of Nations was founded in May 2002.
