Oslava in Velké Meziříčí

The Oslava ( German Oslawa or Oslau ) is a left tributary of the Jihlava in the Czech Republic.

Geography

The Oslava rises a mile north of Budeč in Krischanauer mountains in the area of the nature reserve PLA Zdarske Hills in a swampy area between the hills Kopeček ( Butsch mountain, 599 m) and Hamerský Kopec (593 m) in 570 m above sea level. NN. At its upper reaches it feeds the large ponds Babín, Matějovský rybnik and Veselský fishpond. The other, marked by numerous river bends to the southeast leads running through Nove Veseli and Obyčtov, then against South on Ostrov nad Oslavou and Radostín nad oslavou the barrier Mostiště. About Mostiště, Velké Meziříčí, nesmer, Oslava Vaneč, Naloučany, Ocmanice, Nový Mlýn, Náměšt nad Oslavou and Oslavany then the Oslava flows in a southeasterly direction through the Jaispitzer hills ( Jevisovicka pahorkatina ). Between Letkovice, Němčice and Ivančice Oslava opens to the 99.6 km in the Jihlava. Its catchment area covers 867.2 km ².

Attractions

Below the confluence of the Oslavička the river forms the deep valley Nesměřské 's Valley. On the left side of the Oslavatales lie the remains of castles Templštejn and dub as well as the Náměšt nad oslavou castle.

Below Náměšt nad Oslavou is the deeply incised and partly rocky Meander the Oslava to Čučice a part of the nature reserve Údolí řeky Oslavy a Chvojnice. Along the river here are the remains of castles Sedlecký hrad, Lamberk, Kravi Hora, Levnov, the prospect Altan Gloriet and the hunting lodge Vlčí Kopec. Further downstream is the river, the Oslavany Castle.
