Geography

Osterberg is located in the Danube-Iller region in central Bavaria. It is located 40 km south of Ulm and 20 km north of Memmingen.

History

Osterberg belonged to the Barons of Osterberg and was the seat of government of the same name. With the Act of Confederation, in 1806 the city became part of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born in 1818 patrimonial, 1848, the present political community.

Osterberg is connected via the county road NU7 to the regional road network. This leads to the north over Oberroth, in the south it ends in the state road 2017, which crosses the state road 2031 to Memmingen. The nearest motorway junction is the junction with the Old City on the Iller on the A7. The nearest regional airport is about 20 kilometers to the airport Memmingen. The place is connected by a bus stop with the cities Illertissen and Memmingen and the market town of Babenhausen. The nearest train station is in Kellmünz at the Iller.
