Ostseebad Binz Train Station is one of two railway stations in the Baltic Sea resort of Binz on the island of Rügen. It is located at kilometer 12.1 of the railway line Lietzow - Binz, making her southern terminus. The station is operated by Deutsche Bahn and regularly served by regional and long-distance trains.

History

The station building was completed in 1938. A year later, the German Reichsbahn opened the station officially merged with the railway line Lietzow - Binz. When the war was over, the route had dismantled as reparations and thus also the station to be shut down. However, it was rebuilt within a few years, so the station in 1952 to become operational again.

During the time of the GDR, the station was regularly served by express trains. Due to its relatively high importance for national and international long-distance traffic, he received in 1989 after the electric railway network.

1991 held the first intercity railway station on Binzer. In 2000 a major renovation of the station was completed, inter alia, the platforms were built. These cost about 9.5 million marks.

In March 2011, the Binz train station was connected through a weekly pair of trains to Munich to the ICE network of the Deutsche Bahn.
